Ian Morley Talk

Ian Morley Talk

Did you know that a rise in temperatures of 2ºc could lead to a fall in food production of between 12% and 20% by the end of the century? Or that grocery online shopping increases by 20% every year? Which just shows how our economy increasingly ‘cuts off the middleman’ from the chain of distribution. How about the fact that we reached the peak of world oil production? Consequently the only thing following will be a decline.

All this and much more was discussed by Economics and Business Studies students who had the great pleasure of attending a talk by Ian Morley, Chairman of Corazon Capital Limited, an Asset Management Company and Director of Dawney Day Quantum, on December 2nd. Brampton College was able to welcome Mr Morley the second year in a row to not only discuss the change in our economy, such as the fact that we live in a 24/7 society but to attempt an answer to the most frequently asked question- when is Britain out of the recession?

Mr Morley also discussed the fact that other European countries such as Germany and France managed to be out of the recession quicker and if it would have been more advantageous for Britain to be part of the Euro zone.

By the end of the talk, our knowledge of current affairs and the future was not only enriched, but it made us more eager to find out more about the economy we live in. Finally we would like to thank Ian Morley for his time and we are looking forward to welcome him back at Brampton College soon.
