Gerry Monaghan

Gerry Monaghan is the Head of Physics. He worked in engineering for 20 years, mostly on structural steel projects and bridges as well as underground mining before retraining as a teacher 2005. Since then he has been head of physics at grammar and independent schools. He was part of the A level physics qualification reform team at OCR in Cambridge in 2015, until returning to teaching as Head of Physics at Bedford School. He has experience as an author, reviser and examiner for Cambridge international A level Physics. He teaches across the department.

New Principal Appointment

After what will be six years with the college, our Principal, John Wilson, will be leaving us at the end of the current academic year to take up a new role at a school in Central London. We wish John well and thank him for his exceptional service and contribution to the college and his commitment to our students.

We are delighted to announce that Emma Bell, former Head of St James Senior Girls’ School, has been appointed as Principal and will take over from John in August this year.
