Holocaust Survivor Talk

Posted: 27th September 2017

Students and staff at the College were privileged to hear Susan Pollack speak today. Susan is a Holocaust survivor, and works with the Holocaust Survivors Centre here in Hendon. This talk was the first of our new Inspire Programme at Brampton, and it was certainly an inspirational start. Susan talked to students and staff about the unimaginable horrors that she experienced, and shared her wisdom on the power of what she described as ‘malicious gossip and propaganda.’ Susan was sure to remind us that there are still lessons to be learnt from the Holocaust.

It was a true honour to hear Susan speak, and we thank her and the Holocaust Survivors Centre for making the time to visit Brampton. We look forward to working with them in the future.

A level student Jonathan commented

‘It has been a privilege to participate in the insightful talk given by Susan Pollack since it was one of the last opportunities for our generation to hear the experiences from a holocaust survivor. The talk helped me garner a greater understanding of the persecution which resulted in the holocaust and the ways in which this can be ‘prevented from spreading’

Students heard about the important social work for survivors carried out by Jewish Care and the volunteering opportunities for students. Brampton will be supporting the organisation through the Brampton College Charitable Trust. You can read more about their work here.

Stay tuned to hear more about the College’s Inspire Programme.
