Brampton College’s Election Special…Luciana Berger in conversation with Maajid Nawaz

Posted: 8th December 2019

Luciana Berger and Maajid Nawaz

Bernard Canetti was delighted to welcome our parents, students, staff and friends of the college for our very special and exciting General Election event with Luciana Berger and Maajid Nawaz in conversation. They have both consistently spoken out in favour of tolerance, inclusion and honesty in a political climate which has become divisive, where truth, honesty and decency have been in short supply.

Luciana Berger  is the high profile Liberal Democrat Candidate for one of the most interesting constituencies, Finchley & Golders Green.  A former Shadow Minister for Mental Health, she left the Labour Party as a result of anti-Semitism, a move which made national headlines.

Maajid Nawaz is an author and broadcaster with a popular show on LBC radio. He is the founding chairman of Quilliam the world’s first counter-extremism organisation which aims to promote pluralism and inspire change.

Together they discussed anti-Semitism and racism, the rise of extremism in politics, the potential outcomes of the General Election and much more.  A variety of questions were asked by students and other guests which Luciana answered with great clarity.

The event was covered in the Evening Standard and JC newspapers.
