Brampton College is thrilled to host its first-ever inter-school debating competition on
Thursday, March 27th, just six months after the debating society’s debut. This event
promises to showcase the sharpest arguments, quick thinking, and passionate discussions
as students tackle some of the most pressing issues facing our world today.
The competition will feature three intense rounds of debate, where students will argue
motions that address key political, environmental, and social topics. The motions include
whether private companies should be allowed to fund political campaigns, whether climate
change mitigation should be prioritised over economic growth, and whether military service
should be compulsory in times of crisis. These topics will push the debaters to think critically,
craft compelling arguments, and respond to tough challenges – all under the pressure of
time.
The event starts at 3 PM in the hall, offering an afternoon of energy, insightful debates, and
fierce competition. If you’re not part of the society but wish to attend, speak to Adam
Bainbridge about being excused from class.
