How Does Brampton College Perform in Value Added Progress?
Alongside headline exam results, Brampton College has an exceptional record for “value added” achievement, which measures the progress students make from GCSE to A level.
We have consistently been placed in the top 1% of colleges and schools in the country for ‘value added’ which measures progress from GCSE to A level. A positive score means students made more progress, on average, than students with similar GCSE results across England.
What Were the GCSE Results in 2026?
Our accelerated GCSE programme supports students to take up to 7 GCSEs in just one year. Whether taking these exams for the first time or resitting, Brampton GCSE students achieve excellent outcomes. In 2026 more than one in five results (21%) were at the very highest grades of 9 or 8 (A*) and 64% were grades 9-6 (A*-B) ensuring smooth progression to A level studies and beyond.
Pupils are graded by a 1-9 number system as opposed to the traditional A*-G grading. 9 is the highest and 1 the lowest. 9, 8 and 7 correspond to the current top grades of A* and A and this has been designed to give more differentiation at the top end. 9 has been awarded to fewer pupils than A* was previously.
