The international students were all invited to celebrate Chinese New Year at a dinner in The Real Beijing Restaurant in Hendon. There were 7 teachers and 7 students. We sat around a large circular table and everybody chose one dish. We had some starters and dumplings, which are traditional for the new year. Some of the food was too spicy for our teachers and a few of them didn’t know how to use chopsticks. Dishes were from different regions of China, mainly Cantonese and mandarin. The squid and beef were very popular. It was a really great opportunity for students and teachers to communicate in a different setting and we’re looking forward to the next outing!
