The College was delighted to host Ian Williamson for our first in a series of talks as part of our Wellbeing Programme for parents here at Brampton. Ian is a Child and Adolescent Analyst and is an occasional lecturer in post Jungian child analysis at Essex University. Ian came to speak to parents about understanding teenagers and parenting. He recently published a highly acclaimed book titled, ‘We Need to Talk: A Straight Talking Guide to Raising Resilient Teens.’ The book was reviewed in The Times, describing the book as ‘What every parent should know… If anyone is qualified to give advice on how to manage this tricky time for parents, it’s Ian.’
In his insightful talk, Ian addressed key ways in which teenagers today are lacking values which are essential for success: a work ethic, resilience, and a capacity to make and sustain meaningful relationships with others and with themselves. Following his talk, parents had the opportunity to get stuck in and ask Ian all their questions.
It was a fantastic start to our Wellbeing Programme here at Brampton, and we look forward to our next speaker, Mandy Saligari, who will be speaking on Thursday 7th December at 6.30pm. Mandy is a parenting, relationship and addiction expert, and the founder and clinical director of Charter, Harley Street. Please contact the College if you wish to attend.
