Enrichment update!

Posted: 6th December 2023

All first year A Level students have timetabled extracurricular activities every Tuesday. Group activities happen on a bi-weekly basis, with assemblies, talks or workshops taking place during the weeks in between. This year sees a number of successful activities continuing, whilst we’ve also introduced some new groups for students to take part in.

For those wanting to keep active, Brampton have teamed up with The Warehouse, a local boxing and Muy Thai gym where a group of students are put through their paces sparing in the ring. We’ve introduced a popular new table tennis club in the college too.

It’s increasingly the case that universities are valuing students’ super curricular efforts over extra curricular activities when making UCAS applications. With this in mind we’ve introduced new super curricular groups, giving students timetabled sessions to independently complete online courses, or read around their chosen subjects giving them every opportunity to further their understanding of their favourite subjects.

In addition, we again have a sizable number of students working towards an EPQ outside of lessons, and following its success last year, Beyond the Lines have returned offering a LAMDA qualification in public speaking.

Last year the college’s Young Enterprise company, Revive, were successful in winning the Innovation Award at the North London Final for their sustainable jewellery company. This year we have another company formed who aim to emulate last years success.

As well as group activities, we’ve welcomed some excellent speakers this term to help and inspire students. Elevate Education provide valuable workshops in study skills presented by students at top London universities. So far this year have they presented workshops on note taking and time management, ahead of December assessments.

Other speakers have included Stuart Myers, who returned to the college to share with students his extraordinary story of living with no arms, inspiring students to embrace challenges despite adversity. Everyone’s Invited also returned this year to discuss with students healthy relationships and positive masculinity.
