Life drawing with the Royal Academy of Art

Posted: 7th March 2017

Students acquired new skills and techniques at a life drawing workshop with the Royal Academy of Art last week. Here’s what they had to say…

I enjoyed the variety of techniques and styles explored in the workshop which were new to me. The exploration of the range of things you can achieve with one or limited materials.”

The workshop was helpful in encouraging you to be more fluid in your work and to be more dynamic when drawing. The workshop also demonstrated how you can produce work/a piece in a short period of time encouraging you to not fixate over being perfect.”

Was expecting something completely different, however it was a lot more interesting that I initially thought it would be and I learnt a lot. I discovered that high quality of work can be produced in 5 minutes or even a lot less.”

Really enjoyed having to draw lots of different poses in a short space of time, like using charcoal.”

I found it difficult at first as I’d never done life drawing before, but the more drawings we did, the more confident I became.”

New Principal Appointment

We wish John well and thank him for his exceptional service and contribution to the college and his commitment to our students.

We are delighted to announce that Emma Bell, former Head of St James Senior Girls’ School, has been appointed as Principal and will take over from John in August this year.
