Relax or Revise During the Holidays?

Revision Timetable

Finding the right balance between work and play can be a real struggle for some students, especially over the holiday period.

Half-term is a time to relax and have fun, but if exams are looming it can be hard to switch off and enjoy your holidays. However, too much studying can cause stress and tiredness, which can in turn have a negative effect on your exam results. This is why finding the right balance is key to your success and overall well-being.

The best balance is regular study sessions with a mixture of fun and engaging activities in between. It is also a great idea to make any revision practices fun too!

Here are our top tips for revising over the holidays and how to fit in time for some holiday fun too…

  1. Try to get any homework or revision done at the start of your holidays. This will leave you feeling stress free and allow plenty of time for fun and relaxation.
  2. If you have a lot of studying to do, try to split it up into manageable chunks. It is a good idea to make a schedule or a planner, so you can easily manage your to-do list.
  3. Set aside your mornings to study. Have some breakfast and then get started, as you would on a normal school day. Once you have got your studying out of the way, you will be free to enjoy the rest of your day.
  4. Take a break, even it is just watching a film or seeing a friend, this will give you something to look forward to and motivate you to get your work done. Taking time to relax will also help your concentration levels when it is time to revise.

We are delighted to announce that Emma Bell, former Head of St James Senior Girls’ School, has been appointed as Principal and will take over from John in August this year.
