Staff VS Students football match!

Posted: 4th December 2025

This year Brampton’s football sessions after college have been very well attended. Students from all years meet every Tuesday at the astroturf pitches a few minutes away at Middlesex University. Last Tuesday students faced their toughest test yet, a charity game against a college staff team to raise money for Edukid, our educational charity partner supporting children living in poverty in Uganda.

Despite a concerningly high average age, and a concerningly low average fitness, the staff team managed an impressive 6-5 win (this scoreline is being contested by some). Everyone enjoyed the game though, and so far £242.18 has been raised.

This charity match was the first of a number of events being planned to raise funds for Edukid. The Year 12 students organising activities as part of their enrichment programme have decided to support Edukid’s Bonga Girls project in Uganda. The Bonga Girls Project is an empowerment programme for out- of-school girls and young women aged 11-19. The girls enrolled have never had access to a formal education system as a result of various cultural and life impediments. This is due to a lack of schools fees, teenage pregnancy, early marriages and gender inequality. The Bonga project creates communities of support and reliable social networks for vulnerable girls and women. The programme focuses on life and business skills, as well as vocational training. Ultimately, with the skills and knowledge developed through the Bonga Project, the girls become less reliant on external support, and instead become financially independent and self reliant.

If you would like to add your support by making a donation, this can be done through our Just Giving page below. Football sessions will continue throughout the year and are open to all. Students meet in reception at 4pm on Tuesday before walking to the pitches. http://www.justgiving.com/team/brampton-edukid-fundraising?invite=true
